ASUU strike: Union confirms issues have been resolved, to call off strike within one week

The President, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Dr. Nasir Fagge had confirmed on Wednesday night that all issues relating to the disagreement between the Federal government and ASUU have been resolved and the Union would within one week, call off its over 5-months-old strike.
The ASUU president who was speaking with the African Independent Television AIT, and monitored by our reporter, said an invitation was extended to the Union by the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, leading to the final signing of the agreement.
He said, the Supervising Minister of Education invited us for a meeting today, and we looked at the document he presented to us, and it was a replica of the agreement we earlier reached. We then signed.”
Speaking on when exactly the strike would be called off, he said, ” we shall take the signed document to our members, they would analyse it, and direct us appropriately. We shall hold a NEC meeting of all Union Executive members, after which we shall call off the strike. This can happen within one week, hence it’s possible that the strike would be called off within one week.
He further disclosed that the agreement took into cognisance the non victimisation clause, hence the 5 months Salaries arrears of the striking lecturers would be paid as soon as the strike is called off.
