TODAY ON FRANKLY SPEAKING - FIGHT!

Life in its unfolding can present different seasons and different experiences.
There are seasons of fun, excitement, activity and passion while there are also seasons of inaction, depression, boredom and delays.
To every season we have different reactions. Some seasons we handle well, some others, we do not handle well, the reality incidentally is this; your reaction to every season produces a consequence.
Living life is about seasons and times. Time is about occasions and moments, reactions to all these have consequences, however, the way you deal with these occasions and moments leave a mark on your life’s journey.
Mistakes in life are of varying intensities. Some you recover quickly and move on, some other ones stay with you for the rest of your life. Whatever the nature of these errors, brought about by situations and circumstances and bad judgments, it is not enough for you, my friend to give up on your dreams, hopes and aspirations in life.
Many of us are bearing the consequences of errors of the past one way or the other. Many also are bearing the consequences of errors not even committed by them – it could have been by a relative, a parent or a friend. Many today are even in hurt because they trusted a friend, a sibling, a parent, a relative a colleague, a boss or an organization.
Many today may have settled for jobs, lifestyles and standards far beneath their true worth or capacity because of the indelible consequence of a mistake they made. Many find it difficult to forgive themselves and even others because of these errors of the past.
My dear friend, condemning yourself, judging yourself, belittling yourself, holding grudges against others and living in unforgiveness does not erase the errors of the past and cannot guarantee a better tomorrow. It is not wise to pitch with a major error of the past and allow the rest of your life pass you by. It’s a waste of life.
The greatest of heroes and achievers made painful mistakes at a point in their lives. The reason why they still turned out super successful is because they decided to engage in a serious battle to rescue their future from their past.
Daily, we must keep fighting to protect our future from our past. The nature of life is that inclination to always make you believe you owe your future to your past; that the past would always determine and influence your future. Dear friend, it is not the truth.
Your future is absolutely independent of your past, it is only connected, influenced and informed by your present. It is what you do today that will determine your tomorrow not what you did yesterday. Your today is more powerful than your yesterday because your today has the power to correct and disconnect from your yesterday.
Dear friend today is a good day to let go of the past and give yourself a brand new opportunity in today to make the very best of your tomorrow, but you must resolve to put up a good fight for that future. You must be willing and ready to defeat your yesterday in order to easily move into your tomorrow.
The first battle ground is your mind. You must take over that territory from the harassment of bad memories. Memories of past mistakes and errors can leave you very weak, tired, and inactive if you allow it linger or dominate your mind.
When you keep remembering and meditating on that terrible thing you did, that was done to you or that just happened to you in time past, you are limiting your mind in its capacity to generate fresh ideas and concepts for a better tomorrow.
Dear friend, what has happened has happened, you cannot change it, and you cannot undo it; then simply kill it. Stop thinking about it, stop making it the reason for how your today has become.
It’s amazing someone who used to be a banker did me a mail last week and was blaming Soludos’ bank consolidation or capitalization exercise of 2005 for his joblessness and financial woes in 2013!
Dear friend, you must fight to keep your mind tuned and focused on today and tomorrow, not yesterday.
Also, you need to fight to keep your focus in life. Where are you headed in life? Where is your dream destination? You must be ready to put up a good fight to remain focused on your journey. Can I drop this on you? The fact that you had a baby out of wedlock or you got pregnant in school, or went through a divorce is not enough reason to lose your focus in life. The sudden demise of a parent, a guardian or a financial benefactor is not enough reason to give up on your dreams.
My dear friend today is a good day to stand for your dreams, what’s your dream? What’s that very purpose for which you exist? Don’t let it die because of a mistake, an error or a fall in your past, stand up today and fight for that dream.
Dear friend today is a good day to make up your mind and withstand your domestic critics. The nasty words from your father, the abuse and curses from your mother, the insults and jest by your siblings, the scorn, disdain, disrespect and ridicule from family and friends because of an error of the past.
Resolve to make right the wrong and not remain in their negative opinion of you simply because you think it’s getting to them. Don’t hurt your life and future because you want to hurt another who betrayed or disappointed you. It’s time to rise above their negative perceptions and voices and do the right thing for you.
Dear friend, it’s time to fight for your future, rise above what your boss said, what your colleagues said, what your teacher said, what your friends said, what your spouse said or even your children said to you because of that mistake of the past.
Dear friend, it’s all in your past now, put it behind you and fight to inherit a wonderful, successful and rewarding future. See that beautiful destination again and be re-inspired for greatness. It calls for a fight; today is a good day to fight for it. It’s worth it.
Enjoy your day.
